Delete your data
Learning Breaks never sends us anything a child types or says. What our server holds is below, with how to delete each part: the nickname and settings a parent gives each child on this website, and for each linked phone or tablet its pairing key (stored scrambled), the name the parent gave it and the day it was linked. Learning Breaks does not collect advertising identifiers, hardware identifiers, device model information, or persistent IP logs. It uses revocable pairing credentials to authenticate linked devices.

Your grown-up account, your children and homework
Sign in on this website and choose Delete my account from the menu under your email address. It asks you to confirm it is you, with your passkey or a new sign-in link, and to type your email address, then deletes your account, its passkeys and recovery codes, every child with their nickname and settings, every linked phone, every homework set, every pairing and one-time code, all saved progress, your progress consents, and the sign-in of any phone signed in by an earlier version of the app. Phones linked to your children stop getting settings and homework.
To delete one child, open Children and choose Delete next to them. That deletes their nickname, settings, linked phones, saved progress and consents. Tick Also clear their phones and each linked phone erases what it holds for that child the next time it checks in, within 30 days.
Linked phones
Open the child, then Phones, and choose Unlink next to a phone. We delete its key, its name and the day it was linked; the child's other phones keep working. Tick Also clear the phone and that phone erases what it holds for the child the next time it checks in; we keep only its hashed key, for 30 days. A phone can also unlink itself from the app.
Saved progress
Progress is kept only for a child whose parent turned on Save progress online. Open the child, then Progress: Delete this day deletes one day's, Delete all saved progress deletes all of it, and Turn off and delete deletes it and stops any more being collected. Day totals and lesson totals are also deleted automatically 12 months after we receive them, and right-or-not answers 12 months after the last time a phone sends progress; the Progress page shows what will be deleted in the next 30 days, and on what date. Deleting the child deletes their progress too.
This phone
In the app, open This phone and press and hold Clear this phone. That deletes everything stored on the phone. Removing the app from the phone does the same. The app keeps it out of the phone's cloud backup.
Reports about a game
We keep nothing about the phone a report came from, so we cannot tell which report is yours. Anything typed in the details box is deleted 30 days after we have dealt with the report, and the rest of the report 12 months after it was sent.
Game developers
Sign in to the developer portal and choose Delete my account on your dashboard. The portal will not delete it while you are the last owner of a team with a live game (make someone else an owner, or ask us to remove the game, first), the last owner of a team that other people are still in (make one of them an owner first), or the only admin with a passkey. It is the same account as the parents' pages, and deletes the same things.
What we keep, and why
When you delete a developer account, we keep its break statements, its games' monthly payout-token totals, and the apps they belong to (package name and title) without your name, email or domain; its store listings, signing certificates and your messages to us are deleted. Decisions we made about a game stay on record, without the report that led to them.
Payout tokens carry nothing about a family or a child. A parent's account keeps only a count of the tokens its phones took each month, deleted with the account; for each game we keep monthly credit totals for its developer's statements.
Deleting removes information immediately from our live database. Deleted information may remain in our encrypted database backups for up to 35 days before those copies expire; we don't use backups to bring back deleted information in normal running.
Learning Breaks doesn't keep a worksheet photo after it has been read. Anthropic, the company whose AI reads it, ordinarily deletes what it receives through its API within 30 days, with exceptions set out in its own policies.
We keep information longer only when the law requires us to, and only for as long as it requires.
